What is drip coffee?

Drip coffee can be called by many names - drip coffee, filter coffee, batch brew - or just plain coffee. Most often it's made with an automated coffee maker that automatically drips water over a filter full of coffee.

Drip coffee is a different process than immersion brewing, which is where coffee grounds and water are together in the same vessel which causes extraction.
